Cookie policy

What we store on your device, why, and how to change your mind.

Last updated 27 July 2026

The short version

We keep this light. A handful of cookies are needed to make the site load safely and to remember the choice you make in the banner, and those are always on. Everything else, including anything to do with analytics or advertising, stays switched off until you turn it on.

You can change your choices whenever you like: open cookie settings.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device so it can recognise it later. The same rules apply to similar technologies such as local storage and tracking pixels, so we've covered those here too. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations we need your consent before we use anything that isn't strictly necessary for the site to work.

Strictly necessary

These can't be switched off. They don't track you and they aren't used for advertising.

NameSet byWhat it doesHow long
pr_consent_v1 PatchRight Remembers the cookie choice you made, so we don't ask again on every page 6 months, stored in your browser's local storage
__cf_bm Cloudflare Tells real visitors apart from bots so the site stays available and secure 30 minutes
cf_clearance Cloudflare Records that a security check has been passed, so you aren't challenged repeatedly Up to 1 year

Analytics

Off unless you turn them on. These tell us which pages people actually read and where they give up, so we can fix the weak bits. They don't tell us who you are.

NameSet byWhat it doesHow long
_ga, _ga_* Google Analytics Counts visits and pages viewed, and works out whether you're a new or returning visitor Up to 2 years

Marketing

Off unless you turn them on. These let us measure whether our adverts are working and show them to people who are likely to find PatchRight useful.

NameSet byWhat it doesHow long
_fbp Meta Identifies a browser so we can measure adverts and reach similar people 3 months
_fbc Meta Records that you arrived from one of our adverts, so we can tell what's working 3 months

If you reject marketing cookies, we don't load Meta's pixel at all, so nothing is sent to Meta from this site.

Changing your mind

We'll ask again roughly every six months in any case, so a choice you made a long time ago doesn't stand forever.

More detail

How we handle personal information generally, including your rights and how to complain, is set out in our privacy policy. Questions about either are welcome at hello@patchright.co.uk.
